What is the Difference between SPC Herringbone and Chevron flooring?

Although both SPC Herringbone and Chevron flooring are herringbone-shaped, they are significantly different in their splicing methods and visual effects.

Herringbone flooring uses rectangular floors to be laid at 90° right angles, with the short side of each board connected to the long side of another board to form a "Z"-shaped pattern. The floor has a traditional and classic aesthetic and is commonly seen in European, American or retro-style spaces. The floor after paving is clearly layered and dynamic.

Chevron flooring cuts both ends of the board into 45° or a specific angle, so that it presents a continuous and symmetrical "V"-shaped pattern when connected end to end. How to install SPC Herringbone splicing flooring?

Herringbone SPC flooring generally adopts a tongue and groove buckle structure, without the use of glue or nails. When installing, workers insert the convex hook of one flooring into the groove of another, tilt it slightly and press it to complete the lock splicing.

 

We recommend leaving about 5-8mm expansion joints along the wall and tapping the board seams with a rubber hammer to ensure a tight fit. For the entire paving process, we recommend starting from the center of the room or the predetermined layout line and gradually laying out to the surroundings to make the pattern symmetrical and beautiful.

SPC flooringing itself has a high hardness, but it is often installed with an IXPE foam bottom layer or a separate sound insulation pad, which can significantly absorb walking and impact sounds and effectively reduce stepping noise.

 

Actual measured data shows that the impact sound reduction value of a general SPC Herringbone flooringing system can reach about 20 decibels, which is quieter than tiles without carpet.
